The following interview is with my psychologist, Dr. Ellen Davis. She has been a psychologist for many years, and is a very good one. In one of our sessions, I sat down to talk to her about how she feels about her job, and what she would tell someone aspiring to be a psychologist.

Kelli (Me): How long have you wanted to be a psychologist?

Dr. Davis: I would say since high school. Around when I was sixteen.

Kelli: What made you choose this career?

Dr. Davis: I chose this career so that I could understand myself better, and my family better. And also to help teenage girls.

Kelli: What do you like most about your job?

Dr. Davis: Interacting with families, kids, and seeing them get better.

Kelli: Do you feel good about what you do everyday? Do you feel accomplished? Successful?

Dr. Davis: Yes. I feel very good about the work I do.

Kelli: What would you tell someone who is interested in this career?

Dr. Davis: I would say to study the different paths you can take to help people. There are lots of different ways you can become a psychologist. Do research. Try to learn more about yourself. Maybe go into therapy yourself.

Kelli: Well, thank you for your time Dr. Davis.

Dr. Davis: Your welcome. Thank you.
